Indian Head Massage

Indian Head Massage is a complementary, holistic therapy, that has been practised in India for over a thousand years and is fast growing in popularity around the rest of the world.  This therapy is based on an ancient Eastern form of healing, using the Ayurverdic system.

This wonderful treatment uses massage strokes and pressure points to the head, face, neck and shoulders.  This relaxes and harmonises the body’s natural balance, thus promoting physical, psychological and emotional wellbeing.

The possible benefits of Indian Head Massage can include :

  • Relaxation of the muscles and mind.

  • Increased blood flow to the areas massaged, increasing levels of oxygen.

  • Improved circulation – helping energy levels.

  • Increased blood supply to scalp, head, neck and shoulders – this can encourage healing.

  • Potential hair growth due to increasing oxygen levels and nourishment to the hair follicles.  Can improve the condition of the hair.

  • Relieved symptoms of tension/stress – can also relieve headaches, congestion, sinus problems and insomnia.

  • Detoxification – by stimulating lymphatic drainage.

  • Improved joint flexibility – good for neck, shoulder and back pain.

What to expect from your Indian Head Massage Treatment.
Your first visit will last approximately between 45 minutes and 1 hour in total.  This allows time for a thorough consultation, followed by either a 30 or 45 minute treatment.
During your consultation we will discuss your medical history, diet and lifestyle.  This will therefore be used to ensure your treatment is personalised/tailored to your requirements.  All information you provide will be treated confidentially.
During your treatment you can remain fully clothed or choose to remove your top, this allows the use of oils.  You will be provided with a towel to wrap around your body.  You will be seated in a chair that supports your lower back but allows your upper back to be massaged.
There are very few contraindications to Indian Head Massage but very occasionally it may not be advisable to go ahead or treatments may need to be adapted to ensure safe practice.
